Chomniu P from Choklangan Village won Miss Khiamniungan during the Mini Hornbill cum Tsokum Festival 2018 held at Noklak on October 4.
Meshem M from Wonthoi Village and Chongkoi from New Pangsha bagged the first and second runners-up respectively during the competition, held under the theme ‘Confidence breeds beauty.’ Chongkoi L. from Kusong Village was declared Miss Congeniality, Tsumong S.K from Thang Village as Miss Photogenic, Chomniu P. from Choklangan Village for Best Ramp Walk, Tsumon S.K from Thang Village was declared Miss Perfect Ten and Meshem M. from Wonthoi Village got the award for Best Ethnic Wear.
Deputy Commissioner Peren, S. Tainiu who graced the occasion said beauty pageant is an opportunity for women to groom themselves and to expose the talents they have. Give chance to women to play a greater role in the society, she added.
Keshe Khumo was the guest of honour. The programme was organised by Khiamniungan Meniu Hoikam, the Apex body of Khiamniungan Women Organization under the aegis of Khiamniungan Tribal Council. (MExN)
