CM Special Package: Re-examine beneficiary list, NSUD to Nagaland Govt

Dimapur, June 18 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) has requested the Nagaland government to re-examine the beneficiary list of the Chief Minister Special Package announced on May 20, citing that “there are listed beneficiaries who have not received any benefit to this day.”

Despite repeated requests by various Student bodies, the Government has failed to take up the issue with seriousness, NSUD said.

“If the Government is so reluctant to reconsider the request of stranded citizens’ plea on this issue, NSUD would like to have the names of who have not benefited from the relief program removed from the beneficiary list immediately,” the NSUD stated in its press release on June 18.

The special package has lapsed but the plight of the stranded Nagas has not, NSUD said, adding that the complaints and queries for the relief package were closed well before the beneficiaries could avail the fund.

The Union further said that there are patients still waiting for help with their medical expenses while some have already reached home with ‘untold sufferings endured throughout their stay and journey.’

NSUD expressed hope that the special package will not produce the same result like the previous relief fund where 2475 Nagas were left out “due to bank account issues.”

Stressing that every stranded Naga is facing a tough challenge of sustenance and survival, NSUD said that the special package should not leave out even a single stranded Naga due to the inability to provide all the required documents.
