Kohima, August 21 (MExN): Government employees under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS-EP) will be allowed to reimburse any additional expenses exceeding the insurance cover of Rs 20 lakh under the Salaries (MR) head from their respective departments.
According to the State DIPR, this is pursuant to a government letter dated July 19, 2024, and is subject to certain conditions.
Among other requirements, all concerned beneficiaries must apply for reimbursement through the CMHIS Portal (cmhis.nagaland.gov.in) and upload all supporting documents. The guidelines for submitting the application are available on the portal. The cost of treatment will be considered for reimbursement according to the approved CMHIS (EP) Health Benefit Package rate or as recommended by the State Medical Board constituted under the NHPS.
The finalised claim will be forwarded to the respective employee’s department for payment to the beneficiary under the Salaries (MR) head, the DIPR added. Additionally, the concerned department must submit a proposal for fund allocation under the Salaries (MR) head to the Finance Department for reimbursement of additional expenses beyond the total insurance cover under CMHIS for government employees.
Reimbursement of such claims is permissible for treatment undergone in hospitals empanelled under CMHIS (EP) or for treatment in non-empanelled hospitals in case of emergency or when the specific procedure is not available in any of the empanelled hospitals, with approval from the State Medical Board.
However, pensioners are not entitled to reimbursement for expenditure beyond the insurance cover.
