COCOMI resolve to stand against  separate administration demand

DIMAPUR, JULY 21 (MExN): The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) held the second people’s convention with the civil societies of Manipur on July 21 to discuss the “evolving scenario of Manipur.”

According to a press statement issued by COCOMI coordinator, Jeetendra Ningomba, the convention made a number of resolutions which include standing against any demand of 'Separate Administration' in Manipur and to pressurize the government against the same.

It resolved to demand the Government of India and the Government of Manipur for a scientific NRC exercise based on a particular cut-off date (1951/1961) in Manipur, to reinstate the displaced victims to their original houses, or to set aside and arrange a substantial amount of funds to resettle them in places where they self-assess to be convenient and conducive to economic activities.

The COCOMI resolved to completely uproot narco-terrorism and stated that it would resolutely face any eventuality that it might bring about in its wake in the future.

It further demanded the government to ensure the accurate determination of the causes of the conflict and to bring about a just peace based on a fair disbursal of justice. The convention also resolved to remind the state government to immediately call for a special assembly session.
