‘Complacency can hamper progress in academic profession’

Training on Early Childhood Care and Education, and Foundational Literacy & Numeracy underway in Kohima

A three-day long training programme for master trainers on Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN) got underway here today at SIEMAT Hall, SCERT, Nagaland.

Organized by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland in collaboration with SCERT, Nagaland, the programme will continue till February 25.

Addressing the inaugural function, Razouseyi Vese, Additional Director School Education, reminded the participants that learning is a continuous process for everyone and urged the Master Trainers on ECCE and FLN to continue to update themselves on various themes to impart training to the teachers. He stated that complacency can hamper ones progress in academic profession and asked them to be a model for the teachers in the state.

He reminded the participants that they will be required to train younger generation who are smart and updated with many new things and asked the master trainers to be well prepared.

Vese lamented poor indication of government schools in various reports inspite of having some of the most competent and qualified teachers. He challenged the participants to introspect on why the government schools are not faring well.

He stressed on the need to focus on four core skills in the education sector - Skill of reading, skill of writing, skill of listening and skill of speaking. He asked the master trainers to motivate the teachers to improve the performance of the government schools.

Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland who chaired the introductory session gave a brief background of the purpose of conducting the training programme. He informed the participants that they will be required to conduct training for the teachers as resource persons on ECCE and FLN.

The participants comprises of Trainers of Teachers from EBRCs, Anganwadi trainers from the department of Social and Welfare, faculty from SCERT & DIET and Samagra Shiksha.
