Minister for School Education & SCERT Yitachu today released three guide books written by Dr. Bweyhunle Khing, Associate Professor Kohima College, Kohima.
This books included; a complete book on education in Modern India for Bachelor of Arts Degree Course V Semester, Nagaland University, a complete guide book on educational measurement and evaluation BA (Honours) Education IV semester Nagaland University and a complete guide book on psychological bases on education, Bachelor of Arts Degree Course Ist semester, second edition Nagaland University.
Yitachu lauded the author Dr. Khing for bringing out such books.
He said in any working system, there has to be somebody to lead the role and termed the effort put by Dr. Khing in bringing such books as “leadership work.”
He said the school education department has text book section upto elementary and the same is looked after by SCERT.
SCERT developed text book upto Class V while text book for Class VI, VII and VIII is being given to publishers and taken as syllabus.
He felt that even individuals can take initiative and even copy right can be given instead of giving to publishers. He also felt that a publication centre is required in the state. Meanwhile, he called upon the students to develop positive attitude and march forward.
Author Dr. Khing, Associate Professor Kohima College said that in her research she found that many competent students got detain and one reason for this was the absence of proper guide book, resulting drop-out and ultimately involved in anti-social activities.
She said proper guide book would not only help the students to secure a good mark but also enable them to acquire quality education. She also said a comprehensive guide book would also help lessen the drop-out rate. It would also benefit the students in the competitive exam.
Dr. Khing said she wanted the students to acquire quality education and not quantity education.
Further, she wanted to create a society of love, peace and unity and also Nagaland as a place of peace and wisdom. The function was chaired by Moanungla Kevichusa, Associate Professor & Head of Department English, Kohima College, Kohima.
Jonathan Mesen, pastor Power Comm, UBC Kohima pronounced invocation prayer while Day Spring presented special number. Vote of thanks was proposed by Khrienuo, vice principal Kohima College, Kohima.
