Contractor refutes school authorities allegation

Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): The Contractor for the extension of the half-Nagarjan government higher secondary school building has refuted charges leveled against him by the school authorities. Responding to the allegations made by the school authorities today, the contractor said “it is not true that I did not give prior notice before breaking the wall.” The contractor said at the time the layout was prepared, the concern school authority was out of station. However, later he informed the authority about dismantling the wall.

On the issue that the government’s order for a blueprint to be made available to the school, the contractor said “not even the Secretary is supplied with the blueprint…it is only the duty of the executing agency and the architect consultancy to possess the blueprint.” The contractor said that instead of complaining, the school authority should cooperate with the executing agency and the contractor.

In fact, the contractor claimed the school authority has been threatening the workers at the construction site. The contractor said that if the school is in need of any construction material for any purpose, to approach him and not the labourers.

Moreover, the contractor pointed out that he is not in-charge of the safety of the school. He said that ‘chairs and tables going missing’ is due to ‘bad administration.’ The contractor added further that the “so called GB is not aware about allegation that young boys and girls were using the school building as a haven at night.” The contractor said he has confirmed the report with the colony GB.

The contractor expressed regret over the manner in which the school authority was trying to stop work. He said that the government had sanctioned work for the development of the school. He urged the school to cooperate with the implementing agency and the contractor instead of putting hindrance.
