Kohima, July 11: The Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU) has demanded strict and proper implementation of government memorandums, stopping of table tender, compilation and submission of names of contactors and suppliers against whom work order were issued during the current year by various department.

In a letter addressed to the state Chief Secretary, the union said that despite submitting representations to the government time and again for strict and proper implementation of government memorandums for awarding all types of government contract and supply works to only registered members of the NCSU, “ however, it is obvious that most of the department/ head of the departments undermining the government order, arbitrarily award work order to the NCSU unregistered persons of locals/non-locals, government employees keeping their firm registered in the department, bureaucrats/ officers collaborating with government employees using the bogus contractor/suppliers name.”

The union also brought notice to the government that “many contract and supply works of various department were awarded through table tender without inviting open tender from the contractors” and termed such practices as illegal and total violation of norms and policies adopted by the state government and demanded to cancel all the work orders issued through table tender and immediately call for fresh open tender.

“Moreover, it has come to the notice of our office (NCSU) that number of contract and supply orders were allotted to NCSU unregistered persons without having valid NCSU identity card which are treated as illegal,” the union said and requested all the department to furnish the list of the names of contractors and suppliers against whom works orders were issued during this current year by various government department at the shortest time possible.

The union’s president Pele Khezhie and general secretary Moa Emchen also appealed to the latter to issue necessary directives and clear instruction to all the government departments for adherence and compliance of government memorandum.

“For non-compliance, the NCSU can no longer be mute spectator and our patient waiting should not be taken as weakness. In the event of failure to comply with our genuine demand, the NCSU shall not be held responsible and left no option but resort to a deemed-fit course of action,” the union warned.
