The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) in support to SPB Deputy Chairman’s statement over collapse of Sidzu Bridge and promotion of road condition of NH-150 today drew the attention of the BRO to focus more on public interest instead of making statements for the collapsed bridge.

The union appealed to the concerned higher authority to initiate spot inspection without further delay and also urged for immediate restoration of work and improvement of road condition.

President CSU Mutsivoyi Kotso said that the BRO has been committed in ensuring quality of road so it is expected to come up with a solution in order to create a congenial and peaceful environment between the people and Government. However, instead of completing the work it is making statements. He added that BRO should not delay NH150 work as it is the only highway connected from the capital to Phek and Kiphire district. Stressing the problems for the people of Kiphire, Kotso said: “These people travel double distant as compared to other districts.”

In response to the BRO’s statement in the media: “Excessive scouring of river bed during flash floods”, Kotso said that such statement shows poor foundation and workmanship. He further mentioned that the delay in restoration of the bridge and poor maintenance of the road is causing great difficulty for public transportations.

The union also appealed to the BRO and the concerned department to restore the work at the earliest. It stated that it will not be a silent spectator if the BRO and the authority concerned fail to fulfill their demands and that they would be responsible for any eventualities in future
