DIMAPUR, AUGUST 19 (MExN): The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has voiced its support for extending the age relaxation for government service aspirants in Nagaland to 37 years. In a press release, the CTAN highlighted the concerns raised by the Concerned Aspirants Group in a representation submitted to the Chief Minister of Nagaland on July 22.
The association has been advocating for the extension of the age limit for entry into government services, which is currently capped at 35 years for exams like NPSC and NSSB. They argued that many aspirants were unable to take these exams due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in a two-year hiatus in competitive examinations.
While the government had issued an order from the P&AR department allowing a two-year age relaxation, the CTAN pointed out that this measure only benefited those already over 35 years old at the time of the order's implementation, leaving those nearing 35 or younger at a disadvantage.
The CTAN called for the order to be extended for another five years to address the ongoing concerns of unemployed youth in Nagaland. The organization emphasized that unemployment is a significant issue across India, with Nagaland having one of the highest rates of jobless youth in the country.
