Kohima, November 7 (MExN): A cyber security awareness programme took place at Bloom Bazaar in Kohima on November 4.

The event was organised by the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) in collaboration with MMB Cyber School, a non-profit society dedicated to advocating Cyber Safety, stated a DIPR report.

Bloom Bazaar, an initiative of IDAN, is a 30-week event hosted every Friday and Saturday at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima, starting on September 29, 2023. It primarily aims to promote the Floriculture Industry of Nagaland while providing a platform for local flower growers and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and boost their businesses.

The event featured Limasenla Moa and Vizotuo Sothu as guest speakers, who emphasized the paramount importance of cyber security in our digitally driven world. They shed light on common threats often underestimated by users, including scams and online frauds, cyber bullying, online information sharing, slow system behavior, unexpected pop-ups, unusual error messages, and the premature drainage of device batteries.

The speakers explored everyday practices in the cyber world, such as information sharing, online purchases and sales, and viewing inappropriate content. Attendees received valuable insights into the risks associated with these activities and gained a deeper understanding of the need for vigilance.

The programme also delved into the serious issue of cyber bullying and the various forms it can take, including outing, impersonation, stalking, and harassment. It highlighted the emotional and physical toll these actions can take on victims, leaving attendees with heightened awareness of the potential consequences and knowledge of how to safeguard themselves against cyber bullying.
