Dimapur, April 9 (MExN): The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) on Friday said it was “unfortunate” that the matter of shifting the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner’s office to Chümoukedima is being “pitched on tribal lines.”

In a press statement, the organisation claimed that Chümoukedima was the district headquarter of Dimapur “without any unreasonable doubt and requires no refutation from any angle.”

It further stated that Dimapur district stretches “from Tsiepama, Piphema, Zhuikhu, Hekishe, Tsü-üma, Medziphema areas in the south, Rüzaphema, Zutovi, Shokhuvi, Bade in the west and in the east, Nihokhu areas and the plains of Niuland areas” and questioned why only a few Dimapur town based unions or organisations are trying to “stake claim or decide the fate of the whole district of Dimapur.”

Stating that some organisations are “deliberately using erroneous details to confuse and sway public opinion,” the CYO clarified that the new DC Complex falls under Chümoukedima urban administered municipality.

It meanwhile urged the Dimapur DC to “heavily clamp down by way of checking and entirely ban the mushrooming of unrepresented and unmandated organisations in the district,” and appealing all communities to trust that “effective measures would be initiated immediately by the government to activate the Dimapur DC office, Hq. Chümoukedima.”
