Dimapur, February 15 (MExN): The Dimapur police arrested 11 persons during the past two weeks for extortion-related cases in Dimapur. As per a press release issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO, 6 persons on two separate incidents were arrested on February 5.
The release informed that one “Rajepeyu” of the NSCN-R, who was identified as Vinoka Zhimomi (23 years) was arrested at Forest colony for extorting money from butcher shops. Cash amounting to Rs.1340 was also confiscated from his possession.
The same day, 5 persons were arrested for collecting illegal tax from truck drivers at 4th mile Dimapur. The persons were identified as - Mughavi (32 years), Zhimoka Zhimo (20 years), Kuhovi Zhimo, Akum Yim (21 years), Niloto Kinimi (20 years), and Ronex (25 years).
On February 8, Dimapur police arrested one Khetoka Aye (25years) for collecting tax from truck drivers near Dellai Gate Dimapur. Cash amounting to Rs 14,600 was confiscated from his possession.
On the same day, three persons were arrested for collecting money from the truck drivers near Ghorapatti Dimapur. The arrested persons were identified as Yeshito Sumi (44 years), Inahoto Chophy (25 years) and Nikato Yeptho (25 years). Police recovered cash amounting to Rs 75,860 and two mobile phones.
One person Vikiho Aye (44 years) was arrested on the same day for demanding illegal tax in the name of NSCN (K) from various business establishments.
In a theft case, Dimapur Police arrested on February 6 one person namely Chopika Chophy (23 years), for stealing: auto tyres – 3 numbers and two battery from a private residence.
On February 7, another person namely Suresh Thapa (23 years) was arrested for stealing a scooter.
On February 8, three persons, namely Arosing Sangtam (32 years), Amosmai Phom (37 years), Yhunthulo Rengma (28 years) were arrested for stealing mobile phone and Rs 3200 cash in the Blue Hill station area, Dimapur.
