Dimapur, February 16 (MExN): The Dimapur police today informed that four persons were arrested in the recent past in separate incidents and cases registered against them.
The Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur, in a press release informed out of four, two were held for extortion while the two others were charged with possession of illegal drugs.
In the extortion case, one person identified as Khetovi Aye, a Rajapeyu of (NSCN-K) and a resident of Toluvi Village Dimapur, was held for allegedly demanding money from the business community at Nyamo Lotha Road, Dimapur.Accordingly, a case has been registered in East Police Station, it said.
In addition, one person identified as Itovi Yepthomi of Sachu Colony Dimapur was arrested for allegedly collecting money from the vegetable vendors at the New Market. A case was also registered against him at West PS.
The release further informed that on February 13, one Bendangmeren Ao of Chümoukedima held for alleged possession of illegal drugs. Suspected brown sugar weighing 7 grams was recovered from him, it said.
Likewise, on February 4, one Mughavi was arrested for illegal possession of 11 kgs of suspected contraband ganja from 4th Mile area.
Separates cases against them were registered at Diphupar PS, the release added.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur police personnels manning Kuhuboto Police Out Post on recovered a stolen Bolero vehicle. The vehicle was later handed over to Dispur police, Assam, the release said.
