Do you agree with the Nagaland Home Minister’s statement that the State government is committed to fight corruption?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

• Why Not …. If its their true (State Govt) commitment to fight against the corruption in our land, then why not? We all will be on their side. But … its him (State govt) who corrupted our societies, our peoples and Nagaland Govt as a whole. So whom to be blamed? Its only they … they themselves has to be changed first and if it is so … a new heavenly Nagaland. Wow!!!! Kuknalim.

• Yes, if he truly meant it

• To be fair, let me say Yes. Now it is upto the honourable home minister to live up to his public declaration and prove to all of us that the government is committed to fight against corruption. He should be held accountable for his words. To prove his commitment as home minister, he should constitute an independent inquiry to look into the findings of the CAG report. Also the Vigilance Commission of Nagaland should be made active without any obstruction.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

• No. I dont think the Home Minister really knows the implication of what he is saying. He is only trying to be politically correct. I do not believe the state government is seriously committed to fight corruption. The conditions of our roads is a clear indication of it.

• Not at all. One who says fighting corruption is doubtful. It is not of mouth but of heart. Fighting corruption by a state minister is a comedy film.

• No. how can the corrupt fight the corrupt..

•    Can 60 corrupted MLAs check corruption in Nagaland. So let them check themselves and speak about checking corruption in Nagaland.

• No, I don’t at all believe that the state government is committed to fight corruption.

•    Great! Let him be return all the public goods and funds taken by corrupt means. Then, we'll know he's really getting serious.

•    NO, its just an lip service since prior to him many MLAs, bureaucrats and government officials said many time in the past yet none had a gut  to act a man.

• No. There is no truth to the home minister’s fanciful words.

•    No there is absolutely no truth to our home minister’s words! After all these years does he still think nagas especially the young adults are blind to what is going on in the state?

•    No. Unless he allow the CBI to do the investigation on CAG Report.

•    No. Before also same promises were made but to no avail. In fact corruption in Nagaland is worsening day by day. The only solution is for the youth to rise in revolution and wipe out this disease.

•    No, unless the mess in CAG reports are cleared.

•    There's not even the slightest hint of truth in it. They only speak to fool people without any action on their part when in reality, they're elected to lead by example.

•    No. Probably he doesn't know what corruption means?

•    No. The only way perhaps is to rightly declare a state of financial emergency by the centre and under president's rule every departments should be investigated. We have become a failed state.

•    No, first the home minister to surrender his assets and come clean.

•    No. It’s a statement just to pacify the public.

•    Yes shouldn't be even an option. It should have be NO, NEVER, and IMPOSSIBLE. Why? Cause can you even imagine if any robbers will ever confess that he is one? That's just a joke to make people think he's doing something to fight corruption. Declaring a state of emergency is the only solution.

•    They will fight corruption only after amassing fortune that will last for the next four generations.

•    No. Totally no. 1.Because a man cannot fight against himself. Simple as that. One of the tools to fight Corruption is Lokayukta bill. 2.Why is the Government of Nagaland not ready to implement it if it is serious to combat corruption? 3.Why the government is making so many appointments in various departments when they have banned all new appointments? 4.Why the Elected members buy votes to win the election and from whose account does those money comes?

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

• It is best for the Nagaland home minister and his cabinet colleagues not to make such comments, because it only shows their shallowness. Such statements puts them in poor light and portrays an image where they are looking down on the people. If they are really serious, they should take some solid steps first through action and than only speak after that.

• let the cbi allow to enter nagaland.. only then we will think he meant it ...

• The Home Minister was just joking. We should appreciate his sense of humor.

• A billionaire from nowhere talks of fighting corruption after their storage are maximum. To fight corruption it should start from the top and within the system. Equality of Law should not be only for the 'have not ' if they are really serious in fighting corruption. After all common people want a change within the system.

• Lets us consider that his statement was made on 1st of April. For one i appreciate the BOLD statement which might have come out by mistake. To err is human.

• The loss of work culture of the Nagas promoting corruption by way of developing dependency mentality has to be overcome first before we rate our leaders. Nothing can be done to check corruption unless we revive our work culture. The more educational qualification we acquire the more useless we are becoming. Every work is dignified, but educational qualification seem to be promoting more bufoons and useless people. The day majority of Nagas make use of their knowledge and become self reliant, we can check corruption effectively.

• Litle drop of water mak a mity ocen ,th begning s horible and somwt unperable ,evry naga's hv som unrlstic hiden reson bst kwn to tos prson wo hv comited tat vry ting,if u i me fel it's th rit tim to fight let us gv a helpng hnd to ech otr and mk ur stat free of cruption.

• It is me who feel ashamed to hear such funny dialogue. Maybe the HM is giving this statement with his fist punching in the air!

• A govt formed on the foundation of corruption can NEVER fight corruption. The present DAN govt (or so called All party govt) formed after an ugly episode- in Kaziranga Camp vs Niathu Camp- is in itself a demonstration of corruption by our 'beloved' leaders. For, we've seen how our leaders kicked aside their Ideals, Morals or Principles just so to snatch or grab power & money. So, is this not dishonouring thier own commitment and an act of extreme corruption? It is also evident the HM wants Arun Jaitley & Narendra Modi to hear this 'corruption dialogue' so that New Delhi starts sending central funds. However, New Delhi is not blind, deaf or uninformed. It knows Naga leaders have formed an all party govt just to hog all the fund meant for the public. So dear friends, New Delhi will be giving less funds to Nagaland this year and in 2017 unless we elect a new, uncorrupted leaders and a strong govern ment in the early part of 2018. • we really criticized about our govt n elected members but Do we really fight for our right when our tym comes especially during election

• India being a Democracy Country, Nagaland being her State. My point is, our small state has become total Zero Opposition. Public is the Prey of Corruption where they hope easy money, easy job etc. So, how to fight? • One good step to curb corruption is to allow CBI to probe into different cases.

• Nothing will work or progress as long as this system is changed. At this very juncture Nagaland needs a better system, brand new govt with brand new faces. Present govt needs to be nailed down deep inside.

• I think the govt. of our land will never take any steps to correct itself. The political governments have all been the product of this corrupted system and the system will not automatically self destruct. Its the people that needs to demand and force in the changes. We are all to blame yet we can all change our minds and start off anew any moment.
