Yes:
• The government does not have the will or the desire to curb the illegal taxation. As for falling on deaf ears? They don’t have ears to hear the public plea only ears to hear the chink chink of money falling into pockets.
• Yes, it is obvious that the state government cannot curb the menace of illegal taxation. There are three broad categories of illegal taxation: 1) by govt departments, 2) unions and associations and 3) by Naga political groups. The government should be able to curb the taxations illegally collected by govt departments, unions and associations. But when it comes taxation by the Naga political groups, this requires a political solution.
• Nagaland State is absolutely complicit, hand in glove with extortion to the factions. From Ministerial level to each and every departmental head. They take their cut from this and it is budgeted for at the expense of the public and workers. Until there is a general strike in a total and unified manner it will not stop. David Ward.
• Lack of political will.
• Its complicated. Its not easy to just classify it as yes and no
• For they're also a part of it...... more over they are the most corrupted one.
• Nagas will not listen
• 1) The government itself is corrupted, undermining its moral authority to act against illegal activities. 2) Some government officials might be colluding with the parties involved in illegal taxation, creating a conflict of interest and hindering effective action.
