Do you support the argument made by state legislators that NGOs or civil unions/associations in Nagaland are overstepping their role? Specify reasons.

Yes:
•    It looks like they have to look into every petty matter

•    Due to ignorance of modern constitutional government system and lack of trust on elected government

•    Because no individual can fight against this corrupt politicians in Nagaland. So, you and I together had to do something.

•    Yes. Civil society thinks that they can dictate on every matter which is absolutely bizarre. Sometime we should allow the government to handle matters with its wisdom and understanding rather than poking in each and every issue. But again the irony is that the Government doesn't function or take decision based on facts, truth and common overall well being. Eg. Compare the development of Kohima and Dimapur with the other districts, the difference is absolutely unfair, this is just one example. Anyhow, It's time for government to work for overall well being of all the tribe district of Nagaland without biased. Leaders will leave a legacy one day. So what kind of legacy you want to leave behind? That's the question every leader must answer. civil society/union/organisation must go back and study its role again.

No:
•    No, I don’t agree with the state legislators. It is funny because most of the civil unions and associations have the patronage of politicians and legislators. When it is convenient for them, they fuel and use the NGOs, Unions and Associations for their own interests. But when the unions go against the policy, the state legislators blame the unions for overstepping their roles. What a hypocrisy.

•    No. If the NGOs, Civil Unions and Associations are functioning within the bounds of law, it is within their right. If the allegations by the state legislators have merit, then the law should take its course.

•    They actually check the reckless govt from erratic and irrational policy

Others:
•    So far so much have we witnessed most of what the organisations or unions do are because the government fails to do their role. For instance, the govt focuses on very unsuccessful/ineffective laws like NLTP Act and Plastic ban, which in fact might never be effective considering the present situation, although the later may have alternate solutions. And unless there's pressure from a union or media, they turn blind eye to the apparent issues. However we may also not want to ignore that there might be some union or organisation that in the name of public interest runs for the sake of their own pocket money. Too many unions or associations, in fact a big headache to the general public. There are only few genuine unions who function for the welfare of the society. But yes, too much of unions and organisations is in fact a headache. There are only few genuine unions who function for the welfare of the society.

•    It wouldn't have been the case, these NGOs and civil society organisation does cater to the needs of the public atleast in our own respective tribal division. However today we have so many of them, it's creating some sort of disturbances like talking about its membership fees or other collections and since there are so many we end up paying to a number of unions or orgs. If it's was just important ones at the tribal level or so it's not a problem. In fact some unions or organisations also exercise huge power in their own town or place that they don't hesitate to even take law into their own hands. Likewise as much as there's a noble cause there's a darker aspect too
