Do you think basic food safety norms are adhered to in Nagaland?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

• Yes, to some extent you now see some initiatives being taken at a minute scale of mobile testing going around. This is a welcoming sight.

• Yes, very much. Not only in Nagaland. It has become a universal Truth.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

• No. Even after the recent episode of banning sale of fish in the market due to discovery of formalin being added to preserve them, people still don’t seem to know what is going into our stomachs. For decades, formalin-fish was being consumed without any hint of awareness and only after the recent discovery, people seemed to care a little, yet do nothing about other food products. For instance, so many different kinds of fruits are being sold in our markets with harmful preservatives added to them. But until the concerned authorities expose these vices, people will still choose to remain ignorant.

• No, hotels are not maintain as per the rules n even public are in hygienic habits

• The government is not trustworthy because of the existence high corruption when they dont care for the safety of their own people as they are after money only.

• No, as exemplified by the recent formalin in fish case.

• The state of affairs is so appalling such that basic norms such as prohibition on sell of expired goods is also not adhered to.

• No wonder cancer cases are on the rise in Nagaland!

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

• The basic food standard needs to start from our kitchens.

• These things will take some time in our state. For proper implementation of basic food safety norms it needs awareness, education and monitoring mechanism. At least the formalin issue has created the need for us to be vigilant on these matters.

• With the kind of food stuff we relish on, the basic food standard needs to be applied from our food habits and not from outside.
