Presentations on Solid Waste Management, Postal Life Insurance, and DrAmbedkar Medical Aid Scheme held
Chümoukedima, September 10 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB), Chümoukedima, was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall, Chümoukedima on September 10 under the chairmanship of Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs & Chairman, DPDB Chümoukedima, Zhaleo Rio. Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and Co-operation, Jacob Zhimomi, also attended the meeting.
DCChümoukedimaPolan John NCS welcomed the new members and appraised the board on the progress regarding the Census and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercises, stated a DIPR report.
Addressing the members, Advisor, Zhaleo Rio stressed the importance of maintaining strict attendance of all officers and urged them to sensitise citizens about the various government schemes being implemented and the funds allocated to the district, and called upon officials to provide detailed information on the activities and schemes being undertaken by their respective departments.
He also highlighted the ongoing efforts towards the establishment of new district offices in Chümoukedima and Niuland and stressed the need for officers and departments to work towards strengthening the functioning of the two districts.
On solid waste management, he emphasised strict compliance with waste segregation practices and urged all stakeholders to sensitise the public on proper waste disposal. He called for close coordination among the district administration, Chümoukedima Town Council and the public for effective waste management.
He informed that Sewage Treatment Plants and Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) were being constructed to address waste management issues and facilitate the reuse of waste. He encouraged all officers and stakeholders to work together towards making the initiative a success.
Minister Jacob Zhimomi stated that the departments were responsible for the actions taken up in the district and requested all departments to appraise the elected representatives about the development activities being carried out in the district. He stressed the need to follow the prescribed guidelines under various schemes and maintain accountability and transparency. He also called for close coordination between Chümoukedima and Niuland, stating that all were answerable to the people and needed to work together in coordination.
The board also considered applications for society registration. After scrutiny and deliberation, it recommended the registration proposals of Empowerment Hub for Disability, Zutovi Village, Chümoukedima District, and Chümoukedima District Pensioners Association, Ward-10, Chümoukedima.
The Board also deliberated on the proposal for road widening and construction of drainage along NH-29 from 7th Mile Model Village to Seithekema C to mitigate flooding in the area. The proposal was endorsed to the PWD Department for further necessary action.
