Hindus in Nagaland celebrated Durga Puja with religious fervour and fanfare while worshippers thronged the pandals to offer prayers to the goddess.
On 'Vijoya Dashami' - the last day of the four-day Durga Puja festival, thousand of worshipers thronged to the Dhansiri River to bid adieu to the Mother Goddess.
Incessant rain for the past 2-3 days did not dampen the spirits of the worshipers while locals also joined the revelry in curiosity as well as celebration. Rain is considered a blessing.
Pandals in various shapes and sizes were erected in different colonies of Dimapur as well in Kohima, where the worshiper paid their reverence and celebrated the festival. The two districts have sizeable Hindu population.
Central security forces posted in Nagaland also celebrated the festival in their respective HQs and posting. Several cultural programmes were also held in the puja pandals surrounded by stalls selling sweets and other savouries.
The Gorkha Public Panchayat, Kohima, organised the festivities at Chandmari ground, while observing the "great sacrificial day" or Mahabali on September 29, PTI news agency reported.
