CHÜMOUKEDIMA, JULY 23 (MExN): In view of the unprecedented erosion along the Chathe River bank at Seitheke Basa, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chümoukedima has initiated emergency protection work to mitigate the destructive impact of the river.
A notice issued by EAC Seithekema informed that due to the strong current and volume of water, protective measures involving the placement of boulders are being carried out on a war footing near the Nagaland for Christ Prayer Centre area. However, as the precarious condition of the riverbank on the Seitheke Basa side restricts access for heavy vehicles, trucks transporting boulders will be routed through 5th Mile Model Village.
The DDMA has appealed to the Village Councils of Seitheke Basa and 5th Mile Model Village to extend full cooperation to ensure smooth and timely execution of the protection work. The initiative is aimed at safeguarding lives and property along the vulnerable stretch of the river.
