To end backdoor appointment do you agree there must be structural changes? Why?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

• Yes. But in the case of Nagaland, structural reforms can only happen when it begins by dismantling the very pillars that support "backdoor" appointments like tribalism, nepotism, bribery, election malpractices, and inefficient govt. working systems. Without addressing these pillars of corruption, attempts to change other structural aspects will be artificial and definitely will not yield any positive result; not in Nagaland.

• Yes, if there are no structural changes in the Nagaland government, the rampant corruption, nepotism and all kinds of illegal activities will continue. The present system is very corrupt and messed up where they have become mightier than law. It is time to initiate structural changes.

• Yes. The need of the hour is to establish an independent subordinate Staff Selection Commission like NPSC through which the non gazetted posts in all the departments will be recruited.

• Yes. Deficit budget must end. Government of India must give only a percentage, say 80 per cent. The rest 20 percent must be sourced from the state (not extortion). Only then, the people will wake up.

• Yes nothing will work to control this menace unless there's a mechanism to fix the problem. The law has to be reformed And a deterrent/retributive justice should be in place.

• Don't only blame Ministers for backdoor appointment, it is 100% public fault.. If public don't search and go for help then I am sure Ministers won't come at our doorstep for appointment... I go with YES

• Yes the system must change. We have seen that no matter who becomes the leader they all succumb to the system. We also have so many young civil servants who during their early years are passionate for doing good things but slowly they get corrupted by the system. Also so many Naga officers who have done very well in other states when they come to Nagaland on deputation they end up becoming worse than the state officers. This shows that the system in our state needs to be changed.

• Those who want the backdoor appointment to continue will keep harping about Special Investigation Teams and Court orders, but we all know very well that these don’t work here in our state. What is needed is a complete overhauling of the present system.

• Yes. This backdoor appointment is one of an offshoots of corruption. if the naga societies really wants to free from it, the one and only way is to a

• Enact and implement lokayuta at the earliest but it's an Herculean task one should know. Since, corruption in Nagaland is highly Deep seeded and sophisticated network involved. Yet where there is will, there is a way out.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

• We don't need any changes, structural or otherwise. What we need is enforcement of the judgement passed by the High Court.

• We Nagas want quick fix solutions so I doubt the people are willing to even consider the need to change the decadent system.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

• It must b out n out root out the backdoor appointment in future under the shadow of court otherwise it is something like worn out tools which had done n practicing since decades ago. If we try to open old garbage a pungent smell will come out.

• In this current situation people are not looking at changing the structure they are more interested in finding honest individuals with integrity. This is the problem because the structures are as much responsible for the corruption in our state. How many honest individuals has the system destroyed by turning them into corrupt people?
