ENSF to continue democratic indefinite agitation

Meeting with Nagaland CM 'remain inconclusive'

Kohima, December 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday called for a meeting with the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) at the CM’s Residential Complex

The Federation has launched an indefinite agitation in a phase wise manner beginning from November 30. ENSF had on November 18, served a seven-day ultimatum to the state government to fulfil its six charter of demand in regard to the Nagaland Staff Selection Board. The ultimatum expired on November 25.

ENSF, President, Sepili L Sangtam said, “the meeting could not come to a logical conclusion as the CM stated that to address all the charter of demands put forth by the federation requires some more time and also need an approval of the cabinet.”

The meeting remain inconclusive and therefore, the federation stated that the proposed democratic indefinite agitation will continue in the entire eastern jurisdiction until the demands are fulfilled.

Meanwhile, it also stated that the 2nd phase of the proposed democratic indefinite agitation called by the ENSF passed off peacefully and successfully. The boycotting of statehood celebration, locking down of government offices and on restriction of movement of government registered vehicles by the six federating units at respective head quarters passed of peacefully. 

One vehicle was seized for not respecting the directives issued by the federation and that those seized vehicles will be released only when their demands are fulfilled, it stated. 

The Federation has directed all six federating units that the 2nd phase of day-two indefinite democratic agitation remains the same as per the directives issued.
