Several condoles demise of Nagaland, Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy
Kohima, January 28 (MExN): Following the demise of Nagaland, Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy, IAS on January 28 evening, several organizations and individuals offered their condolence messages.
NDPP: “Hailing from an illustrious family, his personality and character were exemplary of this fact: never known to raise his voice or exhibit his displeasure even in dire situations, he was the epitome of what a leader ought to be – compassionate, tolerant and assuring towards all,” Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) said in their condolence message.
He was loved, appreciated, admired and looked up to by all who had the opportunity to have worked with him; and the public he administered in various capacities have only good things to say about him: He was the personification of a bureaucrat with a human face.
They remembered him as “A brilliant person, he was knowledgeable in almost all subjects of life and mentored, advised his subordinates on how they should perform and dispense their duties. Most importantly, he was God-fearing and totally distanced himself from actions that would be displeasing in the eyes of the Almighty and the people.”
He was upheld and considered as a trouble-shooter in the bureaucratic circles since his mere presence was a soothing balm to the disputing parties who invariably accepted his judicious suggestions for resolutions to differences; and the State Government, no matter the political affiliations which ran it, greatly benefited from his contributions in various capacities, the party stated.
“In his passing away, Nagaland has lost a gem of a person, an administrator and an officer the like of whom we may never have again in several lifetimes. He possessed all characteristics that an individual could pray for and was a model for the younger generation,” it added.
NLA Speaker: NLA Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer condoled the untimely demise of Temjen Toy, whom he acknowledged as a very dynamic, hardworking and an upright officer totally committed to the State and its administration throughout his more than 10 years long service in the State. He had striven tirelessly for the overall development of our State. His contributions as Chief Secretary to streamline the administration of the State have indeed been remarkable.
In his death, the State of Nagaland has lost an outstanding Officer and to the Ao community, one of its finest sons, he conveyed in the condolence message.
PB Acharya: The former Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya said that he was a gentleman with wonderful qualities. “His sudden death is a great loss to our Nagaland administration. My prayer for the departed soul rest in peace and give strength to his family members.”
Patton: Dy CM and BLP leader, Y Patton expressed shock at the untimely demise of Temjen Toy. In his death the state has lost one of the finest breed of an administrator and it will be very difficult to fill the vacuum created, Patton said while sending condolences to the bereaved family and prayer for departed to rest in eternal peace.
TR Zeliang: The Leader of Opposition, TR Zeliang said that the demise of Temjen Toy is a great loss to the Nagas particularly the State Government which he had served all this years with utmost sincerity and commitment.
“I remember him as a brilliant bureaucrat who never compromised with his assigned duties and responsibilities during his tenure under various capacities of the State Government. We shared some very good moments as contemporaries, as a family friend and as a brother. During my tenure as Chief Minister, he was Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and I found him to be a person with few words who was sharp, patient and dedicated to his work,” Zeliang stated.
Asserted that late Temjen Toy gave his best to the society and his contribution to the welfare of the State and its citizens will be forever cherished, Zeliang prayed that God grant peace and solace to all the bereaved family members and all his near and dear ones.
TUD: Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) expressed shock at the demise of Temjen Toy and remembered him as a gentleman, honest and knowledgeable person who mingled with every section of the people without barriers to uplift and impact the lives of people in a desirable way stands as an epitome of a true bureaucrat. “In his death, we have lost a great soul whose place will be difficult to be filled,” TUD conveyed.
KG Kenye: MP (Rajya Sabha) KG Kenye in his condolence message said that late Temjen Toy had served the State of Nagaland in various capabilities as a good administrator and bureaucrat who made immense contributions towards the welfare of our people. On his departure the Naga people have lost one of the finest bureaucrats. “I along with my family members extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and pray that the Almighty God grant solace and comfort at this moment of grief and sorrow,” he added.
K Therie: Nagaland Congress President, K Therie said late Temjen Toy was a committed, sincere and efficient administrator who diligently served the people through his office. His vast experience in administration will remain an untapped pool through which he yet had much to contribute to the state’s growth. “We have lost a promising son whose services to the state will be remembered for generations to come,” Therie said and added, “It is our prayer that the Almighty comfort and console you all through this painful hour.”
Tokheho Yepthomi: MP Lok Sabha Tokheho Yepthomi in his condolence message said, “He was one of the most able government officers our State was blessed with. Our association goes back to when we worked together from 1999 to 2002. As Commissioner & Secretary of PHED between 1999 – 2002, he showed diligence and integrity while discharging his duties.”
Yepthomi also said that the development and progress of our State was paramount to him from his early days as a young IAS officer and as years went by his conviction to serve our State only grew stronger. “I convey my deepest condolences to his wife and children. I pray that God give them courage to endure this difficult period,” he stated.
Neiba Kronu: Minister Planning & Co-ordination, Land Revenue, Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu remembered Temjen Toy as a humble and dedicated Government servant who served the Government in various capacities with utmost sincerity and never compromised with his assigned duties and responsibilities. His death is a great loss for the Government of Nagaland and for the Nagas as a whole. “I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members at this hour of grief,” he stated.
NMA: Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) conveyed deepest condolences to his family, on the shocking demise of Temjen Toy. He was a true gentleman, dedicated to the people and deep kindness in his heart. The children at the NMA Cradle Ridge Centre are beneficiaries of his silent generosity. “May God grant him eternal peace and rest,” NMA conveyed.
DNSU: Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) mourned the untimely demise of one of the senior most bureaucrat of the state and paid its highest respect for the contribution made by Lt Temjen Toy, IAS, Chief Secretary. He will be remembered fondly and we pray that his soul will Rest in peace and May the bereaved family find peace and comfort in this difficult time, the Union stated.
Kripa Foundation Nagaland: Kripa Foundation Nagaland said it is saddened to learn about the sudden demise extend deepest condolences to his family. He was a very competent and efficient administrator, a remarkable gentleman with humility, a soft-spoken, courageous, open mind, ever willing to help marginalised group of people, pleasant natured and God fearing person.
It stated that Kripa Foundation and Temjen Toy have associated with for the last many years. His death is a huge loss to people Nagaland, especially to marginalized groups.
“We will continue to remember him with respect and admiration of his leadership and contribution to our state, especially in the field of drug and HIV programs. We offer our thoughts and prayers, that God may grant strength and much-needed peace to the bereaved family at this difficult moment,” the foundation said.
