An idea however small can be immeasurably immense that can create wealth when planted in a soil of positive and creative mind. It can germinate like a seed into a giant tree. All human civilisation, growth and progress are but first an idea. Therefore, don’t kill or stop the idea. Let it go, grow and reach all minds
Media of communication is an essential air to social life what water is to the fish. The need to communicate is a basic human need. It gives knowledge, understanding, value, growing, and prosperity to human life. Media Communication makes social life possible and meaningful. It narrows down the gaps of understanding, of isolations, of remote and ignorance of human relation and affairs of daily lives. Human civilisation and advancement is brought about by media power. Today is an age of Communication-invasion or media-revolution or in a way media competition. The problems we face today can be traced back to a lack of communication. Mass Media Communication is the catalyst of development of the community, society and Nation.
Nagas are still a distance from realizing the importance and essence of media communication. Very few Nagas appreciates and reads the news paper with understanding of its essence. Perceives that, Some Naga tribes and people are still restricting individuals or person from expressing his/her opinions, ideas, values, concern in the news papers. Such acts are not of wise strategy or broad minded out-looking but of narrow vision perception. They are causing greater harm and hindrances than good to development of the community. Press is one of the strongest pillars of any democratic society. It is a public institution of learning and growing. It serves as the ears, the eyes and the minds of the society. The news papers make the readers an informed person. An informed person is a learned and responsible citizen. Media war is but a means of refining the ideas, truth and making the things more workable. It is a mean of popularising the truth, the reality, the history, the problems and solution of the society and as whole a building agent of the society.
Sensing the essentiality of the Press power, the Universal declaration of Human rights, the constitution of India and the subsequent declaration of international covenant on civil and political rights are established to ensure the citizens of the Nations and the world of rights to freedom of speech and expression and freedom of press. The UN General Assembly in Dec.1950 declares, everyone has the rights to freedom of opinion and expression and this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers (organisations, unions or councils) The International covenant on civil and political rights art 19. States that (1) Every one shall have the right to hold opinions without interference.(2) Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice.(3) The exercise of the rights provided for in para(2) carries with its special duties and responsibilities.
Assert and concern that, No one has any right to control the other’s person life, rights, interest, or force others to do things against their conscience or consent. Any attempts to control on such are fools, brute, blunt and blind. Civic sense demands that all be given due justice, rights to live, express and to do as he/she choose to; provided they are rightly guided, motivated or assisted to do good for the society by the leaders. The role of the community, National Leaders is therefore to safeguard the interest, rights and reasons of his/her subjects or people. In India there is no restriction of communication between her people and the Govt. There is no ban on public or person who publicly criticise the authorities either vocally or in writing. It is disheartening to read and knows that Nagas are more toward talking about the problems or the news and less toward resolving it or less talking about ideas. There are more of criticisms against the problem makers rather than understanding the reasons or why the problems happen; more of avoiding the problems and less of solving them. Therefore, problems are overwhelming in our society today. Many wrong approaches/formulas to real problems complicate the whole society. Problems are essential for growth, experience and understanding. Problems happen that we may solve it and know how to live better, higher and wiser. Many problems of the Nagas are found to have created for lack of understanding about the essence of information, for lack of fellow feeling of humanity, egoistic oriented leadership crises and prideful attitude of self-exaltation and for lack of common people corporate focus Vision. To solve these endemic problems of the Nagas’ society, more access to mass communication, listening to self and others being, reasoning to understand the rights, the interest and reasons of the others person’s action, tolerance of others wrongs and realising our own limitations and imperfections.
