In-charge of Dimapur for COVID-19 activities, Y Kikheto Sema today said that the quarantine centres in private schools and colleges in Dimapur would soon be freed in a phased manner since almost 96% of the returnees, excluding those arriving via Manipur side, have arrived and gradually the returnees would be released for home quarantine.

Addressing media persons at Commissioner’s Guest House, Dimapur, on Wednesday, Kikheto said that the exit policy for quarantine centres in private schools and colleges would start by this week and thanked the private institutions for their support and cooperation towards the authorities.

Stating that so far 837 returnees have completed more than 14 days institutional quarantine in Dimapur, Kikheto was of the opinion that this group of persons may not be required to undergo additional 15 days home quarantine or any community set up quarantine facilities. “As of now we have overcome all the major hiccups and we have tried our best to serve the people and we thank all for their support and cooperation,” he added.

Kikheto informed that a total of 6800 persons have arrived Dimapur through special trains, 3491 through normal trains, 904 through flights, 2138 through buses and 510 through other vehicles bringing the total number of returnees to 13, 843.

Further, the in-charge informed that as of Wednesday, 3443 persons were housed in 67 quarantine centres comprising of 48 institutional quarantine centres and 19 paid quarantine centres. A total of 1332 beds are available at the moment, he added. He said only about 80% of the vacancy could be allocated for occupancy since returnees from one state (red zone) cannot be mixed with returnees from other states. Kikheto also informed that some of the quarantine centres had zero vacancy since returnees could not be allocated due to state wise or gender wise segregation.
