PEREN, FEBRUARY 28 (MExN): The College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (I), Jalukie, organized a one-day training program on the "Rearing Management of Kuroiler Chicks" on February 28 at the Council Hall in Old Jalukie C-Block, Peren.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr I. Shakuntala, Dean of the College, and was funded by the ICAR NEH-Central Avian Research Institute (CARI) in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Dr Uttarani Maibam, Assistant Professor and In-Charge of the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, served as the convener of the training program and welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the benefits of Kuroiler poultry farming for the socio-economic development of the local community.

The training featured technical sessions delivered by experts from the college, including Dr Uttarani Maibam, Dr Malsawmkima, Assistant Professor and In-Charge of the Department of Veterinary Anatomy, and Dr Amrit Gogoi, Assistant Professor and In-Charge of the Department of Veterinary Pathology. The sessions covered topics such as the characteristics of the Kuroiler poultry breed, care and management of Kuroiler chickens, and common poultry diseases.

The program also included a farmer-scientist interaction session, where participants had the opportunity to engage directly with experts. Additionally, leaflets and poultry feed were distributed to the attending poultry farmers. A total of 54 participants attended the event, including 50 farmers from Old Jalukie and four officials from the college. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr Uttarani Maibam.
