It always counsels and guides us. Just as mountains surround Jerusalem, the father's love protects us. Listening my father's prayer, my flesh and soul rejoices and is at peace.”
These are the words of dedication composed and sang in honour of fathers on the very special occasion of Father’s Day. The song titled ‘Father’s Love’ sang by Alobo Naga in Sümi language was released on June 20.
Talking about the inspiration behind the song, Alobo Naga told The Morung Express that every year most of the singers write about mothers but not many sing about fathers. “To be honest everyone is writing about the mother but there is very less songs about the fathers. So I thought why not a song for father?”
The song project was originally for a group of women from Chekiye village, Dimapur whom the artist has been training and also writing and compositing songs for them.
“One of the members wrote the lyrics and I composed this song for them. We worked together for this and they were supposed to release it. However, because of the lockdown we could not come together and they requested me to release it,” Alobo said while sharing about the process of the song.
He also discloses that ‘‘Father’s Love’ is one of his favourite compositions. “The song took a very long time and it is ready now,” he said.
Not letting the pandemic or the lockdown dampen the content of the song and the video, Alobo made use of the social media for the creative process.
“It is not safe to go out now so I wrote to people in my social media to send videos or pictures of their father or if they have any wish for their father, stand with a placard write a message for the father. I got very good response and we went ahead with the video like that,” he said.
On a personal note, Alobo says that he has the best father. “He is the superhero. No matter what the situation, he is always there for us. Even though he doesn’t have, he always gives us the best.”
‘Father’s Love’ is a Sümi song but it will come with sub-titles. “I just felt good to express in Sümi but in future I plan to do the same song in another language,” Alobo stated.
