Peren, April 30 (MExN): The first contest on Financial Participatory Approach (FPA) under the Project ‘Forest and Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya, Nagaland’ was conducted at Punglwa, Songlhuh, Inbung, Heningkunglwa and Ngwalwa village under Peren district from April 25 to 27.

FPA is being implemented on pilot basis in the mentioned five villages under Peren district, which is believed to be the first of its kind in the country.

According to an update received here, it was held as part of the methodology of community mobilization and decision making process called the Financial Participatory Approach (FPA) and it was co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KFW (German Development Bank). 

The programme was organized by Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED) as the Project Implementing Agency (PIA). Storytelling contest was conducted for the adults and drawing contest was conducted for the children out of which the Top 5 were selected and given cash award with certificates. 

Subsequent contests will be held on topics related to nature and conservation and the winning ideas will be implemented by the villagers themselves through Village Level Working Groups. All together 70 CCA villages will be covered by this projects all across the state, the update stated.
