First edition of Strong Competition for Northeast India held

The first edition of the Strongman Competition, organised by the Strongman Northeast India was held at the Orchid Ground, Burma camp, Dimapur on November 5. 

Jack Pucho, founder and pastor of the Warehouse Church, Dimapur was invited as the special guest for the event.

In the 60 KG class for men’s, Rahul Teran (Assam) came in first place after the final tally of points in three events, front hold (maximum time), tyre flip (80 feet) and dead lift (max repetition). While Sumon Chetry (Assam) and Gautam Teron (Assam) stood in second and third places respectively. 

For 75 KG class, Vici Bu (Nagaland) claimed the first position followed by Imsunungkum (Nagaland) and Mayang Sashi (Nagaland) in second and third positions respectively. In the 90 KG class, Vikas Vsham (Manipur) stood first place, Lakhindra Boruah (Assam) in second place and Petevituo Livi (Nagaland) in third position.

For the 90+ KG class, Tsuknungakum (Nagaland) clenched the first position, Siddharth Saikia (Assam) and Mukti Shyam (Assam) took the second and third positions. 

Meanwhile in the women’s category which saw a turnout of five participants, all from Assam, Binti Borah, Basapi Phengkhopi and Gangutri Borah claimed the first, second and third positions respectively for the 65 KG class. As for the 65+ class, Tamhidi Ragpipi came in first place while Linda Sitlhou stood in second. 

The youngest competitor of the tournament was Kevidi Linyü, a.k.a, “Panda” at 17 years of age. 

It was mentioned that the winners will be eligible to compete for the national Strongman India competition. Side events also included, Gym VS Gym tug of war, car pulling competition and food eating competition.
