Dimapur, November 22 (MExN): The Garos of Nagaland celebrated the post harvest festival ‘Wangala’ on November 21 at Samaguri Village organized by the Wangala Celebration Committee in association with Nagaland Garo Tribal Council (NGTC), Garo Students' Union Nagaland Zone (GSUNZ), Garo Mothers' Association Nagaland (GMAN) and All Nagaland Garo National Association (ANGA) host by Samaguri Village with the theme ‘Our Culture is the Soul of our Tribe.’
The programme was attended by Advocate K. Lun Tungnung, President Indigenous Minority Tribes of Nagaland (IMTN) as chief guest and Tengsak G. Momin, President Garo Students' Union, Central Executive Committee (CEC) Tura Meghalaya as guest of honor and Manseng Sangma, Asst. Secy. North East Students Organization (NESO) as special guest. The programme was started with invocation by. Eltish D Sangma, Pastor Garo Baptist Church Chumukedima followed by welcome song from Samaguri village. Welcome address was delivered by Prodip D Sabgma Convenor, Wangala Celebration Committee and brief account of the Wangala was presented by Cliff D Sangma, President, Garo Students' Union Nagaland Zone (GSUNZ).
Other highlights of the programme includes Wangala dance by Ekaranipathar & Samaguri Village, Garo Folk music by Samaguri Youths followed by A'Chik Female Voice from Garo Student Union Dimapur Town Unit. Indigenous games were displayed by Eralibill Youths. Later vote of thanks was delivered by Abraham W. Sangma Secy. (WCC). The programme was concluded with a benediction by Mopish K. Sangma, Pastor Grao Baptist Church Mid Land Dimapur.
