Students and school performance suffering due to lack of teachers, says CTSU

Chessore, August 31 (MExN): The Chessore Town Students Union (CTSU) has stated that the lone Government High School (GHS) Chessore has been without Maths and Science teachers since 2015, and the students are suffering immensely as a result.

The Union also attributed the zero pass percentage of GHS Chessore in Class-X exam results for many years to the absence of such important subject teachers.

Accordingly, the Union urged Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Advisor for School Education & SCERT Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, and the Director of School Education, Nagaland, to immediately post replacements for the retired and transferred teachers at GHS Chessore, as students have been suffering for nearly ten years.

The appeal was issued after a CTSU team, led by its President Richard Yimkhiung and General Secretary Among Yimkhiung, visited GHS Chessore on August 30 and met with the Assistant Headmaster RK Singh.

During the deliberation, the team found that the reason behind the zero pass percentage at GHS Chessore in Class-X exam results for many years was the lack of Maths and Science teachers since 2015, according to a press release from the CTSU.

Among other findings, they discovered that the Science teacher RP Prasad was promoted to JEO without a replacement on October 12, 2015.

Additionally, the Mathematics teacher SM Rujjaman took voluntary pension on August 15, 2015, without a replacement.
Furthermore, LB Ussuk, the Science teacher, was transferred to GHS Thangjem Tuensang without a replacement, while the Headmaster L Mükamchim was promoted to SDEO Shamator, also without a replacement.

Despite several representations to the concerned department since 2016 by CTSU and Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA), followed by the Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) in 2021, no teachers have been posted as replacements to date, the Union stated.

GHS Chessore has been running without these essential subject teachers for nearly a decade, which is truly harming the future of the downtrodden section of society, CTSU President Yimkhiung stated after the visit.

To this end, the CTSU urged the immediate replacement of the retired and transferred teachers at GHS Chessore and cautioned that if the government fails to heed its appeal, the Union will hold the concerned authorities in the directorate responsible for neglecting the future of thousands of GHS Chessore students.
