•-My attention is drawn to the very apt article “Land grabbers-the cancer of greediness?” written by K.L.Merry. By far, this is one article that has long been needful in a society where hypocrisy rules the roost driven by GREED, indeed, the mother of all spiritual diseases.
We hear about callous and wanton “land grabbers” so much these days and are saddened that all of those who indulge in these most nefarious and shady businesses are Christians. Shame on us, indeed! Some of us have even assumed the garb of “freedom fighters” to go around threatening poor people at gunpoint. Justice may be denied to the poor and non-Nagas for now, but the time is not long now before their cries reach up to God, and God decides to intervene (Ex. 6:5-8). We can be sure that God is not amused and he will not let us go free (I need not be a modern day prophet to disclose this fact!). Let us never forget that amidst all our religiosity, God sees our hypocrisy. Our land reeks of a pungent hypocrisy that is all too obvious, perhaps even aided by certain church ministers who have no qualms about raising their hands to bless questionable practices in our society (here, I cringe at the “so-called” church sanctuaries that are built and dedicated on encroached lands!).
May God help us to turn from our wicked ways and seek his forgiveness before it is just too late. And may God preserve those whose rights and privileges are being trampled upon by GREEDY land grabbers!
