Dimapur, March 30 (MExN): The two-month certificate course of Green Skill Development Programme (GPSDP) on Value Addition and Marketing of Non-Timber Forests Products (Plant Origin): Bamboo Crafts concluded.

The training was sponsored by Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change and organised by ENVIS Hub, Nagaland (Host Organization: Nagaland Pollution Control Board) from January 28, stated a press release received here. 

The valedictory function was held at Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) Office with Rusovil John, IFS (Rsd), Chairman, NPCB as guest of honour on March 30.

Rusovil emphasized the importance of bamboos and its utilities as an alternate to replace plastic products. He encouraged the trainees to make use of internet platform where they can sell their products online and to be more creative in their products making and marketing strategy to compete with other entrepreneurs.

Speeches on behalf of trainees were delivered by Thejakhrietuo Nagi and Nikito Swu. The GSDP project report on bamboo handicrafts was released by the guest of honour. He also presented the certificates to the successful trainees. 

Altogether 15 trainees attended the training which consisted of theory classes taken up by the officers of host organization and Officials of Forest Department. The practical sessions were trained from Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, Dimapur. The training also consisted of field visits to Kisama, Made in Nagaland, Bamboo Emporium, Deziephe, Cane Concept, Dimapur. The trainees also visited Khonoma village, where the trainees were given hands on training to make bamboo baskets.
