Griffin FC wins 3rd New Jalukie Super League

Jalukie, August 13 (MExN): Griffin Football Club (FC) defeated Bridge Colony FC 3-1 goal in the final to emerge as the champions of the month-long New Jalukie Super League on August 12. 

The third edition of the annual 7-a side football event that kick started on July 18 and concluded with the final match at The Ball Park, Jalukie Town on Saturday. 

Playing in front of huge spectators, both the teams displayed spirited fight but Griffin FC prevailed at the end. 

In the first half, Kawijibo and Kinthui of Griffin FC netted one goal each to led the match 2-0. 

In the second half, Kawiji scored again to secure a formidable 3-0 lead. The solitary goal for the team Bridge FC was scored by Dihu.

The Champions Griffin FC walked home with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with trophy, citations and medals while Runners-up Bridge Colony FC with Rs 20,000- along with citations and medals.

The Griffin FC was also declared the League Winner with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with citation while top-scorer Kawiji was awarded the "Man of the Match" in the Final Match.

In the individual awards, Jacob SP of Griffin FC was awarded as the Best Goalkeeper, Karangkamlubo of Harpy FC as the Most Promising Player of the Season, Poujuaklung of Anubis FC as the Top Scorer, Kenumdi of Griffin FC as the Player of the Season, Aloumei Panmei of Anubis FC as the Best Defender, Poujuaklung of Anubis FC as the Best Striker, Kawijibo of Griffin FC as the Best Midfielder and Khangcham Newmai Griffin FC as the Best Club Manager. 

All the individual prize winners were each awarded with cash prize and citation.

Aurora FC was declared the Best Discipline Team and Best Fan Award was given to the Bridge Colony FC supporters. 

In the closing ceremony, Viphrulie Krose, PA to Advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio  graced the event as a Special Guest and also distributed the prizes to all the award winners.

And in the evening event, Kenlumyile Ngia as the Guest Artist entertained the spectator. The programme ended with a prayer by Rev. Mathiuthai Gonmei, Executive Secretary, RBCAN.

Earlier during the day, an exhibition match, played between New Jalukie Super League (NSL) officials and Police Department, Jalukie PS, ended 3-1 in favour of the latter. 

A press release from the New Jalukie Super League organising committee informed that the league   was organised by senior football players and sports enthusiasts of New Jalukie and six football clubs participated in the game.
