Kohima, June 15 (MExN): The first GST Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) meeting for Nagaland in the 2025–26 financial year was held on Wednesday, with senior tax officials and representatives from key industry and trade bodies deliberating on a range of tax-related concerns affecting businesses in the state.
The meeting, chaired by SK Sinha, Chief Commissioner of CGST & Customs for the Guwahati Zone, brought together senior officers from both Central and State GST departments, including CGST Commissioner Dimapur SK Mahanta and State Taxes Commissioner Shri Abhinav Shivam.
Representatives from the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CNCCI), Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), and Young Indians (Yi) Nagaland Chapter, among others, participated in the discussions.

Sashi Wapang Lanu, Additional Commissioner of CGST, welcomed the participants and explained that the quarterly GRC meetings are intended to systematically address taxpayer grievances and operational challenges under the GST regime. He emphasized the importance of transparency and continuous collaboration between taxpayers and the tax administration.
During the meeting, CNCCI President Dr. Khekugha Muru and BAN President Mongkhum Jamir raised several issues faced by the business community, including the need to raise tax exemption limits for Nagaland, concerns over multiple taxation, and requests to extend deadlines under various amnesty schemes.
In response, the Chief Commissioner directed both Central and State GST departments to conduct more awareness programmes across Nagaland. He also introduced the concept of “GST Mitra,” a departmental initiative to train and certify local GST practitioners and accountants, aimed at addressing the shortage of GST professionals in the state.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Deputy Commissioner of CGST Otto Yeputhomi, who encouraged continued use of the GRC platform for resolving GST-related issues in a constructive and collaborative manner.
