PSAN put forward proposal for separate Staff Selection Board/Commission in Nagaland
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 18 (MExN): The Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) had a meeting with the Nagaland Governor at Raj Bhavan on December 16 and submitted a representation on the hardships faced by public service aspirants and also the various alleged anomalies unearthed through the RTI queries by PSAN.
A press note from the PSAN media cell informed that during the meeting, it raised their concerns on the issues related to contractual and backdoor appointments, rampant deputation, non adherence to service rules, lack of transparency in the exams conducted by NPSC, etc.
Further, the PSAN put forward the proposal of Nagaland having a separate Staff Selection Board/Commission in line with the Staff Selection Commission at the central level, for recruitment to those posts which do not come under the purview of NPSC so as to prevent malpractices by the departments in the recruitment process.
The PSAN informed that the Governor assured the members that he would look into the matter(s) with seriousness and do whatever was necessary.
Meanwhile, the PSAN informed that through RTI queries, they have “unearthed contractual appointments made in various departments and it is our demand that those appointees that haven't been regularized be terminated immediately and their vacancies be advertised for recruitment so as to provide equal opportunities to all in matters of recruitment to public offices as enshrined in article 16 of the Indian Constitution.”
It also asked that the NPSC declare and make public the marks scored by candidates in all stages (Prelims, Mains and Oral interview) of exams conducted by it so as to maintain transparency; provide answer keys for Technical exams and also for Paper 1 of the NCS/NPS/NSS & other Allied Services Main exam; and complete the entire process of examinations in one calendar year.
