Handover my husband’s dead body

My husband Kusheta Rhakho of Kizari village under Phek District, a Leacy in NSCN (K) was abducted by NSCN (IM) with three other friends on 26th April 2009 at Diphupar B, Dimapur. They were taken to Habron Camp. During the period of their detention various NGOs and individuals pleaded for their release. Throughout the ordeal I was told that no harm was done to him. But on 24th May morning the newspapers reported that my husband was killed.

Three of his friends were released to Chakhesang Hoho Dimapur on condition that nobody will claim the dead body of my husband. So, till today the dead body of my husband is not handed over to me. For whatever reason he was abducted, tortured and killed I demand his dead body. Why is NSCN (IM) refusing to hand over the dead body of my husband? Is it not because they tortured him beyond recognition leading to death? Is not because they did not want me and the middle men to see his battered body? Even if the NSCN(IM) did not want to hand over the  disfigured body immediately after death to cover their inhuman act, they should handover the decomposed body now because by now all signs of torture will disappear. Even if it is only bone they should handover so that his relatives can give honourable burial in his native village.

I appeal to Chakhesang people that my husband’s inhuman torture and death was an insult to our community because it is against our traditional practice of showing last respect to the dead man. I also appeal to the human rights body to investigate the deliver justice for the sake of humanity for which it stands.

The NSCN (IM) may try to justify the killing of Kusheta Rhakho thousand times. But he is dead and cannot tell his story to defend himself. I s Hebron camp a killing field, a butchery? Why do they kill human beings like animals in Hebron Camp? Are they not human being?

You killed him and refuse to hand over his mortal remains. Why do you commit double crime? Had killing him not satisfied you? You should hand over his dead body without anymore delay. Do not betray a helpless widow.
