Hayithung Lotha to ENPO: Participate in election, and show the ‘power and worth’ of Eastern people

DIMAPUR, APRIL 11 (MExN): Independent candidate for the Nagaland Parliamentary seat to the Lok Sabha general election, Hayithung Bill Lotha on Thursday highlighted his hopes and vision for Eastern Nagaland with particular reference to Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) issue, if he gets elected.

This, however, with a requirement that the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) reconsider their decision of abstaining from the upcoming elections and participate as a major player to elect the next MP to represent the Eastern Nagas.

“The priorities that I have set if given an opportunity to serve as an elected MP is to prioritize the needs and aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland for a better future by fulfilling the demand for FNT,” Hayithung Lotha said in a press statement.

According to the Independent candidate, his vision would be to bring and fulfill the political, financial and administrative autonomy as desired by the people of Eastern Nagaland within the state of Nagaland, the appointment of Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) equivalent to the rank of Chief Minister who shall directly report to the Governor's Office.

And most importantly the FNT should be directly under Central government funding monitored and supervised by the Government of India, he further spelled out.

“My representation as an elected Lok Sabha MP will not only be limited as a guarantor to the FNT but also as a guardian to any entity or factor that will threaten the socio-cultural, religious and political identity of the Eastern Nagas,” he further underscored also adding that special attention will be made in the education and health sectors of Eastern Nagaland.

“My hope and vision to fulfill this dream for the Eastern Nagas is; if only ENPO reconsiders their decision of abstaining from the upcoming elections and participate as a major player to elect the next MP to represent the Eastern Nagas who shall be capable to press upon the next Prime Minister of India in fulfilling the FNT demand,” Hayithung Lotha pointed out.

While extending this clarion call upon the ENPO to invest their faith and power of votes on a candidate like himself, who is “neither influenced nor dictated by the ideology of any political party or with any obligation but only driven by the philosophy to facilitate equality and justice for all,” he said participating in the electoral process 2024 by the ENPO will be the "most historic and defining moment" to truly show the ''power and worth" of the Eastern people of Nagaland.

The Independent candidate also claimed that his connection with the Eastern Nagas “goes long and strong since my wife is from Eastern Nagaland who I am proud and grateful and have been immensely blessed by our Almighty.”
