H&FW dept responds to ‘illegal’ occupation

KOHIMA, MARCH 1 (MExN): The Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoH&FW) has issued a statement to clarify the ongoing land dispute between the Town Sub-Centre and GMS Midland in Dimapur.

The clarification issued by the Dr E Motsuthung Patton, Principal Director, DoH&FW explained that in order to establish health centres, it requires a no encumbrance certificate from both the village council and district administration. This ensures that the land is free from any legal complications before construction begins.

According to the department, the land for the health centre was provided by the village authority, highlighting the community's support for healthcare infrastructure development.

In 2010-2011, the department invested in building three rooms to create a functional healthcare space. However, at present, only two of the rooms are being used by the sub-centre, while one room is temporarily occupied by the school authority.

To minimize disruptions to healthcare services, the department has decided to temporarily relocate all staff to the Chief Medical Officer's office in Dimapur. This move will remain in effect until a permanent solution to the issue is reached, it added.  The department assured that it remains committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to resolve this issue amicably.
