DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 9 (MExN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) will not be deploying any volunteers to enforce the state-wide bandh anywhere in Nagaland.
It asserted that CAB 2016, strikes at the core of Naga identity, and therefore every Naga should take it upon themselves to stand up for their own rights without viewing the February 11 bandh as “meaningless or an unnecessary inconvenience to the public.” Towards this, the JCPI in a press release has appealed the good conscience of all Nagas to respect and honour the call of Nagaland bandh which has been called to send a message to the Union Government that the preservation and the protection of the indigenous lives in the North-east is of outmost priority.
It is high time Naga people automatically stand up and assert their rights without the JCPI or any entity enforcing any “Common Naga Agenda” through coercive methods, the JCPI stated. For any clarity on the bandh, the following phone numbers of JCPI members can be contacted – 961780249 and 9615191549.
