‘Homiletic Lab: Skill Development in Preaching’ workshop underway

Mokokchung, January 19 (MExN): Realizing the importance and inescapability of preaching in Christian Ministry, the Clark Communication and Cultural Research Centre in collaboration with the Warner College of Preaching organized three days workshop on the theme ‘Homiletic Lab: Skill Development in Preaching’ from January 19 to 21 at Clark Theological College, Aolijen, Mokokchung.  

This three days workshop is sponsored by Ecumenical Centre for Homiletic Orientation, Forum for Ecological Spirituality & Sustainability Turnover (ECHO-FOREST). Warner College of Preaching (WCP) is the main wing of ECHO-FOREST which implements and materializes its vision.  

The organisers informed in a press release that two expert-member team from Warner College of Preaching, Rev Dr Alfred Stephen, professor of Homiletic and C Bendangonen Jamir, Homiletic Scholar are the resource persons in this workshop.  

In the inaugural programme, while welcoming and introducing the resource persons, Principal of the College Rev. Dr. Marnungsang acknowledged that the coming of such a world renown Professors of Homiletic to Clark Theological College at the time when entire theological institutions in India are facing scarcity of Homiletic professors and teachers, is an amazing opportunity and blessing of God and for which he thanked the resource persons from Warner College of Preaching and ECHO-FOREST.  

While introducing the workshop, Prof. Alfred Stephen addressed the august gathering by saying that the Homiletic Lab aims to inculcate the importance of preaching and teach the method of developing sermon and challenge the participants with the contextual reality of society and train them to reflect of the scripture in the light of the life situations and explain the life situation in the light of the scripture. He further said that the ECHO-FOREST and Warner College of Preaching among other goals is committed to train the Theological Students, Pastors and Preachers in the Science and Arts of Preaching.  

The inaugural programme was chaired by Toshi Aier, Assistant Professor, Department of History of Christianity, invocation was said by Renbi Rangthang, Asst. Professor, Department of Biblical Studies and dedicatory prayer for the success of the programme was offered by Reverend T. Yanger Jamir, Public Relation Officer of the College. All together 73 young men and women are participating in this workshop.
