Bus service for tourists during Hornbill fest
The Nagaland State Transport (NST) today informed the general public that  tourist bus service (Pink Bus) will be provided from Kohima to Kisama vice versa for the tourists during Hornbill Festival from December 1 to 10.
Pick up points will be from the Directorate of Tourism office premises, PR Hill to Kisama.


 
3E Nagaland presents Hornbill Half Marathon
3E Nagaland is presenting Hornbill Half Marathon on December 8.
The start point for Half Marathon will be at II World War Cemetery and Great Hornbill Run at High Scholl Junction.
The finish point will be Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima.
This is the only half marathon being organised in Nagaland that specifically complies with the international standard distance of 21.0975 KM and is perhaps the only half marathon of Nagaland that is recognised and found mention in the all India marathon calendar.
The event is held under the aegis of Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) and is officiated and certified by the Nagaland Athletics Officials Club (NAOC).
Competitive events: Half Marathon (Men & Women)- 21.0975 KM.  Great Hornbill Run (For boys & girls)-10 KM. Participatory event-Special lap for people with different abilities


 
Naga King chilli eating competition
Naga King chilli eating competition will be held on December 7 at Kisama.
Naga Chilli or Raja Mircha is an indigenous crop of the state which is believed to have originated from the Zeliangrong area of Nagaland and is extensively grown in Peren, Mon, Kohima and Dimapur. The Naga Chilli was the first crop from the state to be given the GI tag and is one of the hottest known Chillies in the world besides having an appealing aroma, which is consumed as a food item in every Naga household.
Owing to its pungency and alluring aroma, the Naga Chilli has always invoked curiosity and awe amongst the people especially, from those outside the state.
In order to give an opportunity to the visitors to have a tête-à-tête up close and personal with the Naga Chilli, the Department of Horticulture sponsors the Naga Chilli Eating Competition every year coinciding with the Hornbill Festival.
The Naga Chilli Eating Competition made its debut in the 11th edition of the annual Hornbill Festival in the year 2010 and today the Naga Chilli Eating Competition has become a signature event of the Annual Hornbill Festival, which attracts visitors both local and foreign to have a duel with one of the hottest Chillies in the world, and is also one of the major crowd sensation as people throng in thousands to watch the participants put on their armour and put up a strong fight with the Naga Chilli.


 
Open art competition
The Tribal Vision is presenting Open Art Competition for specially abled persons with the theme “Green Environment” on December 7 at 11:00 AM at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima.
The winner will carry a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 while the first and second runner up will get Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5000 respectively. There will also be two consolation prizes at Rs. 2000 each.


 
Hekko exhibition match
Hekko exhibition match will take place on December 7 at the main arena Kisama from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM.
Hekko is an indigenous game played by the natives of Changki Village under Mokokchung district.
Hekko is a game of competition usually played among the youngsters at villages to socially identify or recognize the “Heroes” among the youths. Two opposite teams are engaged to play Hekko.
One team is called “AKHO” (Tiger) and the other “AMI” (Man). The name of each team is decided by a toss before the game starts. Each team is led by a captain of their own choice.
Ami (Man) team should always be within the demarcated circle by making a human chain. The Akho (Tiger) stay outside the circle. The Akhos can attack the Amis at a time. The Akhos try to snatch away the Amis across the demarcated line whereas the Amis resist to keep its team within the circle. When an Akho is caught by the Amis, he is not released till he says “JOKO” (Surrender), in other words, he is out and Akho replaces him. But when an Amis crosses the circle, he is out and he cannot be replaced.


 
Winter fantasia
As part of Hornbill Music Festival, MUSIK-A is presenting “Winter Fantasia,” an evening of classical and jazz music at main arena, Kisama on December 2 at 4:30 PM.
The show will feature Nourhe Khate, Debjit Mahalanobis, Zubeni Kikon and Lamphang Syiemlieh.
