ICAR-IVRI organized Kisan Goshti cum awareness prog

Medziphema, March 12 (MExN): In collaboration with ICAR Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Kolkata organised Kisan Goshti cum awareness programme in Noklak on March 4.

During the event, Dr PS Bannerjee, station in-charge from IVRI Kolkata, briefed the farmers of Noklak district about improved health practices. 

The farmers from the district stated that accessing good quality germplasm, feed and medicine were very difficult to them, while livestock diseases from Myanmar devastate their livestock frequently, a press released from ICAR Nagaland Centre informed. 

Dr Pritpal Kaur Batra, Superintendent of Police, Noklak district, the special guest in the event, also exhorted the farmers to adopt scientific practices for livestock rearing. 

Earlier, Dr DJ Rajkhowa, Joint Director, ICAR Nagaland Centre, briefed about the various initiatives taken up by centre to improve the economic and nutritional security of tribal farmers.

Dr Mahak Singh, Scientist, ICAR Nagaland Centre, who coordinated the function, also expressed gratitude to IVRI Kolkata for helping the farmers in Nagaland. 

ICAR-IVRI Kolkata supplied 100 piglets to 35 farmers of Noklak and Peren district along with grower pig feed and medicines at the programme funded by NEH fund of IVRI Kolkata, the release added.
