ICDS Chare Block conducts Poshan Maah sensitization camps

Tuensang, September 21 (MExN): The Integrated Child Development services (ICDS) Chare Block in continuation of Poshan Maah activities in Chare block, conducted panchayat meeting cum sensitization camps from September 18 to 20 at Trongar, Chungliyimti and Chare Town.


 A press release received here stated that the panchayat meetings cum awareness camps were conducted with the view to reach every household in Chare block with the message of nutrition with focus on mobilization and participation of the masses in addressing various aspects of nutritional challenges, and to enable awareness on the importance of nutrition. 


The panchayat meetings were conducted with the participation of village council members, GBs, church leaders, anganwadi workers, helpers and ASHAs from 11 villages. The meeting was held with 4 villages at Trongar village on September 18; 3 villages in Chungliyimti village on September 19 and 4 villages at Chare Town on September 20.


Nockpai Konyak, EAC, Chare speaking at the panchayat meetings threw light on the action plan to be implemented in the block and said that the coordination between various departments would be ensured to make ‘Poshan Maah’ a resounding success. Stressing the importance of the village councils, GBs and churches, Konyak added that these mediums would come in handy in carrying forward the mission of Poshan Maah and Poshan Abhiyan echo in every household of Chare block.


Moa Longkumer, CDPO, Chare ICDS Block sensitized the participants on how individual families can easily access government services to supplement nutrition for their children and pregnant/lactating mothers and the aims and objectives, targeted beneficiaries, and convergence action plans of Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan and Rashtriya Poshan Maah. Around 90 village council members, GBs and church leaders participated in the panchayat meeting cum sensitization camps at the three venues.


Meanwhile, ICDS Chare Block in convergence with Primary Health Centre, Chare also conducted an anemia screening camp for adolescent girls at Primary Health Centre Chare on September 19. The camp was conducted to spread awareness in the community about anemia and its prevention and treatment and around 120 girls underwent the screening test at the camp, the release said.
