DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The National BJP President, Rajnath Singh in his inaugural speech at the National Council meeting identified the issue of “Illegal Bangladeshis as one of the main challenge before Indian society and Government.”
Singh stated that in the 2001 report of Indian Security Systems, “it has been analyzed that around 1.5 crore of illegal Bangladeshis are already in the record and it has became a main security threat, not only to NE region but in around 15 states.” This was informed in a press statement by the spokesman and general secretary of the BJP, Nagaland.
The BJP president called upon the UPA government to take action on this issue. Rajnath Sing commented on the “diversion of Brahmaputra water by China” stating that “it would be a danger signal for the NE region.” He said that India should “initiate for a tripartite agreement between China-Bharat-Bangladesh with urgency.”
He further appealed for “special care” on Arunachal-China border security and management. He added that “strategic encircling of Bharat by China in many fronts should be the focal point of Indian foreign policy.”
The inaugural session was held on March 2 at Talkatoro stadium in New Delhi. A second session of the meeting is scheduled to be held on March 3.
