‘Infinite shutter down’: Staggered relaxation of shop closures across Nagaland today

There will be staggered reopening of businesses across Nagaland on April 29, following an appeal by the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CNCCI) on Saturday for a ‘window period’ to allow citizen to stock essential.

The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), which is spearheading the ongoing ‘Infinite Shutter Down,’ informed that the all business establishments will remained opened from 12 noon to 6 pm.

The decision was taken following requests from the Naga Council Dimapur and the CNCCI.

However, if there is no positive response from the State Government to DCCI’s charter of demands, then the indefinite shutter down will resume from April 30 onwards, stated a press release from V Shikuto Sema, Vice President, DCCI.

Meanwhile, the East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA) stated that the ‘infinite shutter down’ will be relaxed within its jurisdiction on April 29. The consideration has been made to enable the public to stock up essential commodities and further updates on the resumption of the indefinite shutter down will be notified to the public by EDBA, informed a press release from the Association.

The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) also made similar announcement ‘in public interest.’

All shops and business establishments in Mokokchung district shall remain open as usual on April 29 and the shutter-down protest will resume from April 30, it said. 

The MCCI also requested the public not to resort to panic buying during this 'window period' and cautioned traders against taking advantage of the situation and resorting to illegitimate business practices.

Any trader found indulging in such activities will face punishment, it added. 

On Saturday evening, the Phek District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PDCCI) also informed there will be partial relaxation from 12 noon to 6 pm in the district on Monday,

A meeting convened at the Deputy Commissioner Office in Chümoukedima on April 27 also decided to open business establishments under the district from April 29. 

The Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) also informed that the indefinite shutter down called will be relaxed on Monday in Kohima. 

Further updates on the resumption of the CNCCI indefinite shutter down will be notified to the public, it added. 

On Sunday, the All Nagaland Private Bus Association also informed all the travel agency to re-open the ticketing counter and resume its service so as enable to facilitate the outgoing student as well as the travelers.

Further, it assured it commitment to render its full support to DCCI for further course of action if any necessary matter arises.

The Association again appealed to District administration and State Government to initiate the necessary step to bring the peaceful atmosphere upon the state in general and Dimapur in particular.
