Is education helping young women in Nagaland gain more influence in household and community decisions? Give Reasons

Yes:

•    Yes, definitely. The other day, I went to a village not far from Dimapur. An elder of the village remarked that the women folk are more organised in the village and have been empowering themselves by learning and equipping themselves with new knowledge and skills which has greatly increased their purchasing power. This has helped them to increase their capacity and confidence.

•    Yes. Education has enabled women to be more aware of their rights and to assert. Moreover, education has empowered women in terms of employment and financial independence.

•    It gives right knowledge and confidence to enable her to make decision for herself and for her family

•    So many women in Nagaland have the freedom; well I can even say more freedom than male. And in recent years we can even witness the women MLA women MP and many who hold high power in administration and other bodies too.

•    Education often equips individuals with greater knowledge, skills, and confidence, which can lead to more active participation and influence in decision-making processes within households and communities.

•    Hopefully, education may lead to enlightenment or being cultured.

•    It broadens our thinking capacity and makes us differentiate between what is right and wrong.

•    Yes...with access to quality education, it equip the women with knowledge and skills to participate in the decision making as well as equal participation in household decisions.

•    Yes, through education the young women of our society are able to take informed decisions which enables them to take better decisions for their household and community and thus increasing their influence in decision making body.

No:

•    Absolutely no. In fact our education system is a real threat to our age old culture and traditions.

Others:

•    Male will dominate everywhere at the end

•    It is different in household and community aspects; less in the former and more in later.

•    Today's generation of young women is evolving fast. On one side, education and exposure have made them more confident, independent, and aware of their rights and choices. They take care of themselves, follow global trends, and embrace modern lifestyles—this shows growth and self-love. But on the other side, we also see a growing focus on outer beauty, social media validation, and a shift away from learning core values, family traditions, and life skills from their elders. There needs to be a balance—while it's great to be modern and stylish, it's equally important to stay grounded, respect one's roots, and carry the wisdom passed down by parents. True empowerment comes not just from how you look, but from what you carry inside—your values, skills, and the way you treat others."

•    Do a poll where males are included too. Like do women take advantage of women empowerment, fake gender equality, are males (boys and men) left out etc?
