Is the Government of India honest in finding a lasting political solution to the Indo-Naga issue?

Those who said YES had this to say:

•    Yes, the GoI is honest about the Indo-Naga issue, however since Nagas are divided amongst ourselves, we cannot blame GoI.
•    Yes....very much but Nagas among themselves are searching for peace not among themselves...that not truly peace issue....less

•    Yes, if not sincere enough they (GoI) won’t have declared 3 ceasefires with 3 Naga groups on 3 different occasions since 1964. But the Naga house is divided by few immature and self-styled patriots then in tiger-skinned and some are still blood thirsty out of frustration. God’s wrath. God save us!

Those who said NO had this to say:

•    Had there been any ‘sincere concern’ from the Indian government, do you think the Indo-Naga political issue would be stretched for more than 50 years? How long will the tug-of-war go on?
•    No, not at all. The government of India is not sincere. It is busy trying to weaken the Naga people and is only interested in a solution that will benefit them. The government of India has never been serious. Its time to call off the ceasefire.

•    No, the present ceasefire is a farce. They are just buying time!

•    No, government of India will never be, can they? Big NO!

•    No, why? Government of India has never been honest for last 60 years. If government of India is honest, the Indo-Naga political problem might have been solved long time back.

•    HONESTY? What is honesty? Never and ever.

•    No, because: 1) If government of India is honest, it would not have abrogated unilaterally the Nine point agreement in 1947; 2) It would not have transferred the Naga affairs from the external to the Ministry of Home affairs in 1972; 3) It would not interfere in the internal affairs of the Nagas.

•    Far from it. GoI’s way of dealing with Indo-Naga issue is superficial. In fact, GoI is responsible for the rising violence among the Naga bothers and sisters from different factions.

•    The GoI is not honest in finding a lasting solution. Just look at history and we will know how India has betrayed the Nagas. They don’t realise that by betraying the Nagas, they are only making themselves weak and unsafe. If only India had the guts to settle the Naga problem honourably, then both India and Nagas would be strong and the Look East policy will become a big boost for both of them. Indian politicians and army officers are too narrow minded, they only think about themselves and are bogged down by their egocentric views. By setting the Nagas free, India will benefit more. But now, they are only losing, though they think they are winning.

•    No, the Indian government is busy trying to weaken the Nagas. Even if there is a peace process, they are using the Indian army to do all kinds of propaganda work through developmental activities. Also the Indian government is not serious with the talks. They are playing the cat and mouse game, with the carrot and stick policy. Indians know only how to trick others and cheat others.

•    No, because result of so many talks have not seen the light of day even after 7 years dialogue.

•    The Govt. of India is unable to accept the unique history of Nagas practically.

•    Why do they keep on delaying in finding the solution for more than 8 years? It shows their double standards.

•    No, GoI’s sincerity and commitment in finding a lasting political solution to the Indo-Naga issue is a matter of serious ‘doubt’. How many PMs have directly handled the issue and where have their promises of resolving the issue gone even after holding more than 60 rounds of formal talks? We can simply conclude that GoI is/will never commit themselves to solve the issue.

•    No, they are all swindlers.

•    Government of India was, is and will never be honest in finding lasting solution to Indo-Naga political problem

•    Neither the Govt of India nor the IM group is.

•    GoI’s sincerity is questionable. GoI should at least have done something to bring the warring factions together and sheer neglect in this regard is one proof of neglect and an open secret of diabolical plan to let the warring factions finish each other off and throw away the Indo-Naga issue into the dustbin of history.

Those who said MAYBE had this to say:

•    Maybe, but Nagas are not prepared.

•    GoI is honest that Naga’s need a social solution more than a political solution. The revolt for political freedom by our parents has evolved into a private war for economic gain and mother of all lawlessness: similar to Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.
