• Yes, There may be lapse in some. We must see the overall improvement. Yet still a lot more need to be done.
• As far as the government is concerned they think they are and this is important because from their point of view they think they are responding to address the public’s outcry for basic needs. Obviously the Naga public at large does not share this sentiment but still the perspective of the government cannot be ignored. The government definitely has development at its core agenda, but unfortunately the way they understand development is not the way the public understands development. For the Naga public development infrastructure starts with basic needs such as water supply, good roads, regular power supply, etc, but for the government it means building big offices and constructing gates and going on road shows and promoting entrepreneurs who toes their line and the legislators going abroad. So from the government point of view they think they are doing the right thing. There is a big gap in how the government views development and how the people want development and this gap is causing a lot of problems.
• Yes, If the npf is trying to unifite the nagalim
• Yes, NPF is getting there. They have a concrete plan and strong leadership unlike the Congress party which is in disarray. Even though they have their own weaknesses, the NPF has delivered like no other party in the past. They should be appreciated and given another chance.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say: 129
• The answer is a big NO…of course the NPF government is doing some development but those development are only inaugurating new office, hosting national events, road show, hornbill festival, inviting foreign policy makers but what about road condition, water, LPG problem, electric, illegal immigrants, even the health dept is corrupted forget about big scam, just take one, even the single needle syringe have to buy in govt hospitals…youth problem, the deserving youth are not getting any scheme instead the schemes goes to son or daughter of well known background..The present govt is not addressing the people cry but they are busy making planning for their family future…
• If they were doing so in the last 8 years, we would not be asking this question.
• No! I am not satisfied. Let me share this sms with Nagaland. All credit for this post goes to the one who composed this SMS: In the legislative assembly, an NPF MLA during his speech told a story… “There was a father who gave 100 Rupees each to his 3 sons and asked them to buy things and fill up a room completely. First son bought hay for Rs. 100 but couldn’t fill the room entirely. Second son bought cotton for Rs 100 but couldn’t fill the room entirely. Third song bought a candle for Re 1 and lit up and the room was filled with light completely.” The MLA added: “Our Chief Minister is like the third son. Since the day he has taken charge of his office, our state is filled with the bright light of prosperity.” A voice from the congress side asked: “itu sob tu thik ase ho….hooilebi, Rs 99. bachia khan kot ase??” So there you go. I conclude it with a big UNSATISFIED NO.
• Hell no! We sweat here without electricity, pliable roads and water supply and the Rio led govt is making Nagaland into a fleshy road showing Thailand?!
• A BIG NO! How good are our roads??? How regular is our electricity supply?? Go to any districts except dimapur during the dry season and what do you see??? We see people, young and old, either carrying water or on their way to fetch water. Can't they find ways to supply drinking water?? Look at all the gov't run hospitals, what do you see??? How good are the hospitals??? Its really a shame for the gov't to say 'Nagaland the land of festivals' when the people are hardly getting any good basic amenities of life!
• Al the readrs r directly currupted. If nagalnd has 2 com up wit the levl in (socialy, politicaly, economicly) wit othr states than nagalnd neds som young eductd peopl 2 run the state.
• They focused on show off activities and ignored the basic needs of the public.
• No coz ter r many issues unsolvd n dyin awy 4m bad 2 worse. need Revolution.
• Not at all. For example, take the case of the recent power crisis faced in our state of Nagaland. This could have been resolved in a matter of days, but NO, they are dragging their feet over it. If the power minister was really serious about it, he would have personally taken charge of the situation and ensured that the government pays the pending bills and see that that the power supply is not interrupted. But I guess the ministers are all too busy filling up their coffers for the next elections.
• Unfortunately time is running out for the present govt as state election is approaching soon. And i think when govt can not do in 9 yrs how will it be possible to solve the multiple issues in 4 months?. we can only hope That which ever party forms the Govt in coming election will put people development before anything else.
• not at all... they r not for the people they are for themselves.. enjoying at the cost of innocent ppl..
• No, they just do not care, their pockets should be full at all times, people in misery, justice, ethics etc are just alien words/feelings to the politicians & also most of the bureaucrats today. Nagaland sucks!
• No. Just want to know in which direction Rio's eyes are fixed if only anyone can take off those shades.
• Big NO..
No proper Electricity.
No water Supply.
No good Road.
No proper drainage.
Boycott future election, install Dictatorship.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say: 13
• Its not right to say that the government is doing nothing at all. They are in fact doing quite a lot of things. Although as a concerned citizen I must point out that though the government seems to be doing quite a lot of activities around the state, I don’t agree with their approach and understanding of development and neither do I agree at all with the direction in which they seem to be forcing the entire population to go in. The vision in which NPF is leading the Nagas is based on business equation and this comes from an opportunistic approach. This is not only short-term but it will have a lot of negative long term effect on the people.
• NPF has proven to be a strong party with grassroots support in the initial years, but it does not have many grassroots leaders. Many of the leaders are technocrats, bureaucrats and others who has professional careers and so their understanding of the issues are not very deep.
• Under the incumbent govt, its great to see those world-class stadiums in Nagaland which may turn out to be great in the long run but I would rather have been truly proud for having seen in my state such as basically needed educational institutions, ie, medical and engineering colleges, IIT, IIM, IIIT, NIIT, you name it. The state govt should no longer afford to take it fading irrelevant behavior and action with impunity for granted while delivering the goods to the people based on nepotism, tribal line, political partisanship, region etc. Just take the in-depth perspective out of in and around the capital city of Nagaland and on its periphery and let it scans the length and breadth of the state for the right answer to this weekly poll, whereas 75% of the 2 million Nagas living in the rural areas and the rest 25% only living in the urban area. Then without conducting a spot survey statewide on the ground also, applying a mental survey with mathematical rationale with a little help of academic knowledge on the welfare state. My ballpark estimate of the error of margin may not be that much big when in fact a huge bulk of the naga population still living at subsistence level. More than two quarters of naga populace living below the poverty line. The only saving grace for the state and its govt is seen no naga beggar on the street and the both seems to to take credit for it. As of now, I may sound too idealistic but possibly in the future if the existing welfare and developmental schemes, vis, grant-in-aids, subisidies, special financial assistances in all forms, etc all for the development, progress and upliftment of the socio-economic life of the general populace trickle down and reach not only the ones who needed the most but also who deserved the best without the scourge of prevailing corruption in the present state of affairs. Then only the naga populace could begin thinking about living their lives with dignity and respect. The downtrodden, but it seems to me that the former mostly failed to live upto its unique caliber for the reason known only to them. Thus, for all the practical purposes, not only the NPF-led govt, but also the naga civil society which for them is another day, another business as usual with no exceptional results to show for, are so far not good enough to deliver the goods for the general populace of nagas.
